-Students will identify and define three types of governments in world communities (monarchy, demoracy, dictatorship)



Assessment/Project

-Have students use an almanac or children's encyclopedia to make a list of different nations. They should then identify each nation's type of government.
-Have students create a news report on different nations around the world, with different governments.
-Brainstorm what would happen if there were no rules. Roleplay this scenario.
-Roleplay how rules and laws help people resolve conflicts.
-Identify the structure of government in the Untied States
-Make a chart of local, state and federal government
-List local, state and federal givernment leaders (which are elected vs. which are appointed)
-Identify the three branches of the United States Federal Government and list their functions
-Make posters for each classroom rule
-Make posters for laws that help the community (ex:bicycle helmet, curb your dog etc.)
